Fascinating Fascinators

In light of the celebration of the royal wedding, I thought it would be appropriate to celebrate some great Royal fashion as well. Personally, when I think of British fashion the first thing that comes to mind are HATS! They always wear those silly hats (which are apparently properly referred to as 'fascinators') So I thought we could explore some awesome fascinator fashion modeled by Bride to be, Kate Middleton.
Kate's fascinator fashion truly is fascinating, but I feel like it may be just a little to much for Americans too handle. I don't know about you, but I'm not looking to make such a bold statement.
So here is my twist of this royal fascinator fashion:

A little bohemian flare never hurt anyone, right? :) What do you think?
Would you rock the 'fascinator'?

Making Memories

A wonderful end to a wonderful day
Celebrated this wonderful sunny day and the end to a very long week with a beautiful walk in the park with my favorite guy.

The boyfriend hanging on the slide
Playing at the playground!
The slide ladder spelled out AMERICAN!

Seagulls, who knows what they were doing at the park...

Best do it yourself Manicure!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Polish Strips

I have been hearing everywhere about this awesome new product from Sally Hansen Salon Effects.  It's called Sally Hansen Polish Strips. These strips are fit to the size of your nail and are meant to stick to the surface. What makes this product so attractive is ALL the awesome designs they offer! No way you could find these designs anywhere else.

So, naturally, I decided to try it out and report back to you.  It took me two tries to really make these little suckers look good. There are definitely some helpful hints to a smooth application. Here's what I found:
My successful attempt!
Don't make fun of my stumpy fingers!

1. Keep on hand nail clippers or tweezers
These will come in handy if your nails are smaller than the strips (like mine) and the strip overlaps the cuticles. Using nail clippers or tweezers you can easily remove excess strip from around the nail without tearing or ripping the strip. Just press the tweezers along the cuticle line.

2. Be in close proximity to a heater. It is key that your hands are warm during the application process! I know it's a little weird, but seriously. The strips will not adhere to cold nails! This is where my first attempt went miserably wrong (my hands are perpetually cold). So for the second attempt, I placed my hands in front of the heater before applying each strip, then after applying the strip to make sure the strip was totally stuck onto my nail. This worked wonders!

3. Follow the instructions in the box to the T! Also you can watch a mini-tutorial at Sally Hansen. Scroll down and you should see a video on the left hand side of the page.

I absolutely love this product now that I have gotten the hang of applying the strips! I have gotten so many comments from people that love my nails! AND the strips lasted about 2 weeks before they started to chip!  Let me know if you try them out and what you think of them!

PS. I'm also really loving these awesome nail polish colors if you want to go old school and  actually paint your nails!

Enjoy! XOXO

April Showers bring, well, Home Depot Flowers

Messing around with my camera at the nursery:

The boyfriend and I have decided to attempt to grow a garden of goodies this season...
And by "boyfriend and I" I mean just him because I pretty much kill anything green...
I swear, I have a talent for killing plants, even the ones people say you have to really work hard to kill. I've even managed to kill three cacti.

When will you Learn?

“Look at you. You’re young. And you’re scared. Why are you so scared? Stop being paralyzed. Stop swallowing your words. Stop caring what other people think. Wear what you want. Say what you want. Listen to the music you want to listen to. Play it loud and dance to it. Go out for a drive at midnight and forget that you have school the next day. Stop waiting for Friday. Live now. Do it now. Take risks. Tell secrets. This life is yours. When are you going to realize that you can do whatever you want?”
                               -Louise Flory

I wish someone would have said this to me years ago. So now I'm telling you. Live life. Write your own story. Do what you believe in. Do what makes you happy.

Worst.Weekend.Ever.

This weekend was, well, awful. My lovely cat went missing. For those of you that don't know, my kitty is my child. Some even say I love her more than my boyfriend (It's a close race). So when she didn't show up after a full day and night I became distraught. She often spends the night outside, but never more than eight hours. So naturally, I was worried.

My Kitty, Cricket
Another night passed with no kitty and so panic mode kicked into gear. It was time to take every action available. My boyfriend and I scoured the neighborhood for her, calling out her name, shaking a bag of yummy cat food, and even bringing along a towel that she liked to lay on in case she picked up the scent. No luck.

We returned to the apartment, feeling defeated and sad. I began posting missing ads on every petfinder website and community bulletin I could find while my boyfriend put up posters in the neighborhood.

I quickly began receiving calls from people who had seen my ads and wanted to help. I received one call from a woman on 50th & Hawthorne (4 miles from home). The woman explained that she had seen my kitty all the way out there.

I thought it was a little improbable, but in my desperation to find my kitty, my boyfriend and I jumped in the car and drove to the area. We walked street by street as it poured down rain for about an hour before we gave up and went back home yet again.

So after hours of searching and putting up posters we decided to do one more search. This time, looking in every crack and crevice that a little mischievous kitty would hide in. During the search we stopped in front of Cricket's favorite yard and begun to strategize where to search next... AND all of sudden, my boyfriend, Chris, shushed me, "Quiet! Shush!" I quietly listened and miraculously a song of meows came pouring out of the garage door behind us.
WE FINALLY FOUND HER!!

I was beyond happy. I got my little stinker back! I can't imagine not coming home to that little furball everyday.

Thank you to all my neighbors that so graciously helped in the search!

So, yes, this weekend sucked, but after it all, I'm just ecstatic that I still have my little kitty. She just better not do that again!

Iphone anyone?

Lets celebrate! I just got an Iphone4! I've been waiting years to get one and the day finally came (Stupid Verizon). I was so excited to make this purchase, yet I was unprepared for all the other accessories that, once introduced to, my mind was unable to ignore.

My thoughts immediately spun into a whirlwind of possibilities. I decided to opt out of Verizon's generic and lackluster accessory selection and opted to find some creative and unique ones elsewhere. Naturally, I immediately began surfing the Internet for the coolest Iphone cases out there.
Here's what I found:
Incase Andy Warhol Series
My personal favorite

Grovemade
Homegrown Portland Company!

Signimade Shop

Mamastudio

And if you really need some bling in your life...
Casecabin's Shop
Recover
Also a Portland company

CWestbrook Designs

If you think those are cute, don’t even get me started on the Iphone pouches...

I haven't even begun to sort through the thousands of apps out there. Do you have any favorites you would recommend?

Don't Worry, I found the Sun!

The Sun’s out!
Go out and enjoy it!
Sit on a bench and read a book!
Cook the first barbecue of the season!
People watch from the confines of a tree branch!
Go for a bike ride with your babe.
Chase dogs in the park!
Make grass-angels in the grass (unless you’re allergic to grass like me)!

I don’t care what you do as long as you go out and enjoy the sunshine!
Yeaaaa! So excited!

PS. Sorry if my enthusiasm is a little overwhelming. I’ve been cooped up in a windowless classroom for the last five hours and get to look forward to six more hours of class time tomorrow, yes, on a Saturday. But don’t feel bad for me, just go out and enjoy!

A collection of beautiful

The Photographers (who's names I've forgotten-Sorry!) somehow manage to capture some awesome images in a not so awesome setting.  Gorgeous!
