DIY Flower Head Wreath

It's beautiful outside. The sun is out. The flowers are in bloom. The berries are ripe. It's summer, a time to adventure and explore. But what to wear on these adventures? My vote is for the always in style flower head wreath. Whether you're off to a music festival, attending a wedding or going hiking in the woods, a little natural flower power never hurt anyone.

All you need is:

Wire
Floral tape
Flowers & leaves

*FYI:Dollar Tree has wire and floral tape

I've found a few good tutorials for making your own wreaths:

Personally, I would add a few feathers to the mix and maybe some ribbon too.

Have fun! Happy exploring!

DIY Teacup Candles

Hi Lovelies! I recently helped plan a baby shower for my lovely and very pregnant bestfriend, Nicole. She wanted a French country themes baby shower. So one of the design elements I used were some adorable Teacup candles. I originally saw this DIY at The Blushing Bride and thought I would try it out and share with you! It was a great success and the candles looked perfect!
To start you'll need a few things:
Teacups (You can find these at thrift stores)
Soy Wax flakes (specific for containers)
        Wooden Kebab skewer sticks
        Tape
2 pots for melting the wax
Fragrance (candles are always better if they smell nice too!)
        3 1/2 inch candle wicks
       Candle dye (for coloring)

1. Take two kebab skewers and tape them together on one end. Slide a candle wick in between the skewers so that it fits snugly between the kebabs. Lay the kebab and wick on the teacup so that the wick sits in the middle of the cup. For additional support, tape down the kebab to the side of the teacup to ensure the wick will not move when you pour the wax.
2. Now that your teacups are prepped, you will need to melt your wax flakes. Depending on what type of wax you buy, you can either use the microwave or stove to melt the wax. I prefer to use the stove so that I can control the temperature (making sure it doesn't get too hot) and color of the wax. If you decide to use the stove, make sure to use two pots. Fill the bottom pot half full with water. Let the water come to a boil, then place the second pot with the wax flakes into the boiling pot.
Melt the wax over boiling water
3. Once the wax is totally melted in the pot, you can add coloring and fragrance. A little goes a long way with both the dye and fragrance. Add the dye slowly and make sure it is completely melted and mixed with the wax. I wanted my candles to have a pale pink hue so I used very little dye. It's hard to guess the color of your wax while the wax is still wet so I suggest dipping a spoon in the wax and letting a few drops fall onto wax paper. Let the drops dry. Those drops should give you a general idea of what your candle color will look like.

4. Now it's time to pour! This is easy as long as you're deliberate. Pour the wax into your prepped teacups making sure not to spill any wax on the outside of the cups. I suggest aiming for the center of the cups while pouring so that you don't get any way on the sides.

5. Voila! Sit back and relax awhile! Let the candles dry for about a day to make sure they are completely solidified. Do not touch or move the candles while drying! This can cause the wax to lose its shape.

5 Minute DIY: Flower Vase

This DIY is so easy and quick!

What You'll need:
1. Empty Starbucks Frappuccino bottle
Cricket just can't stay away from the camera :)
-The best part of this DIY is that you have a good excuse to buy a yummy drink :)

2. Ribbon

3. Accent Gems (You can find these at the dollar store for cheap)

4. A flower
And that's all you need!

Instructions:

1. After emptying the contents of your delicious Frappuccino bottle into your belly, rinse the bottle and peel off the Starbucks stickers stuck to the outside of the bottle.

-I use these bottles because the stickers peel off very easily and don't leave adhesive to scrub off.

2. Pour the desired amount of gems into the bottle.

3. Tie a bow with your ribbon around the rim of the bottle.

4. Place a flower in your new, adorable vase!

See, I told you. Easiest DIY ever.
My vase lives on the toilet tank in my bathroom :)
This vase is a great accent for an empty shelf or counter top. You can add multiple vases to make a cute and festive table centerpiece too! Enjoy!

DIY: Magnetic Board Tutorial

It's super simple!
Here's what you'll need:
1. Picture frame- I got mine from St. Vincent De Paul for $2.00
2. Paint- I used a flat white paint made for interior use
3. A sheet made of ferrous metal (IE. steel or iron-based, something magnetic)- you can find this at hardware stores. I got mine from Home Depot.
4. Fabric to cover the board
5. Paint brush
6. Magnets
7. Hooks to hang jewelry- I also used drawer knobs to spice it up

Instructions
1. Paint the frame the desired color. I also distressed mine. Distressing is super easy. After you have painted the frame just take a piece of sandpaper and rub it against the edges, corners, and anywhere else you want until the wood shows through the paint.

2. Cut the metal sheet with a pair of metal sheers (you can find these at a Hardware store) to fit your frame.
3. Cut your fabric a little bit larger than the interior area of the frame so that you have enough fabric to fold over the backside.

4. Glue or tape the fabric to the backside of the metal sheet so that the fabric lays flat and taut on the front side. I actually found that using duct tape worked better because I was able to pull the fabric tighter if my initial placement of the fabric was too loose.

5. Screw in a few hooks to the top of the frame.

And Voila! It's that easy!

If you want to use it for make-up, just simply glue a magnet to the back of each piece of make-up you want to stay on the board.
