Gone adventuring.

"An adventure may be worn as a muddy spot or it may be worn as a proud insignia. It is the woman wearing it who makes it the one thing or the other."

               -Norma Shearer

Going to play in the woods this weekend! Excited to find adventure, make new memories, and explore, explore, explore!

DIY Flower Head Wreath

It's beautiful outside. The sun is out. The flowers are in bloom. The berries are ripe. It's summer, a time to adventure and explore. But what to wear on these adventures? My vote is for the always in style flower head wreath. Whether you're off to a music festival, attending a wedding or going hiking in the woods, a little natural flower power never hurt anyone.

All you need is:

Wire
Floral tape
Flowers & leaves

*FYI:Dollar Tree has wire and floral tape

I've found a few good tutorials for making your own wreaths:

Personally, I would add a few feathers to the mix and maybe some ribbon too.

Have fun! Happy exploring!

Great Fall Recipe: Butternut Squash Blondies

Do you ever buy something that you don't need just because it's really pretty? Well, I'll admit, I do. I own a blue and green strainer that rarely gets any use for that very reason. Recently, I fell in love with a lovely little ruffle apron and I had to have it. Thing is, I'm not much of a cook. So there wasn't much of a reason to buy it. This recipe was my first attempt at baking anything successfully (with the help of some trusted friends and mother, of course). I think the apron did wonders for my baking ability.
Looks kind of like this one minus the top
But this isn't about the apron, it's about the brownies. And, dang, were they good. Seriously, I was a little skeptical at first, butternut squash in a brownie? But they ended up being super yummy. The squash makes the brownie deliciously moist and not too sweet.

Here is the recipe for these delicious Blondies from wholefoods.com

Makes 2 dozen
Grated butternut squash and fresh nutmeg add earthy notes to these addictive sweets. To grate the squash, use a box grater or food processor. Make up to two days ahead, and cut them just before serving.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons melted butter, plus more for the pan

1 1/2 cups peeled and grated butternut squash

1 1/4 cups whole wheat pastry flour

1 cup 365 Everyday Value White Chocolate Chunks

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons grated nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1 cup light brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tablespoon 365 Everyday Value Organic Vanilla Extract
Method
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan with butter; set aside. In a medium bowl, toss together squash, flour, chocolate, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. In a large bowl, whisk sugar and eggs together until pale and thickened, 1 to 2 minutes. Whisk in butter and vanilla, then add flour mixture and stir together just until combined. Transfer to prepared pan and bake until just set in the middle and golden brown around the edges, about 30 minutes. Set aside to let cool, then cut into 24 squares and serve.
All of our delicious goodies!
Let me know if you make them and how it goes!

Keep Calm & Do Yoga

Lately I've been lacking big time in the exercise area and seemingly piling on the stress. So today I decided to try something new to solve both my problems. I did yoga! And it was so amazing! If you listen and really do as the instructor says it can be quite the work out and stress reliever.

I feel rejuvenated and less stressed. I only caught myself thinking about what I had to do when I returned home twice...That's pretty good for a girl that keeps herself up at night going through mental to do lists and making sure she doesn't forget anything.

The studio I visited is called Sellwood Yoga. A fantastic couple owns and runs the studio. They are quite nice and it is obvious their genuine desire to teach yoga. The studio, itself, is gorgeous. The front desk is made from a fallen maple tree and the studio opens up to a beautiful garden and streams of sunlight.

My instructor, Bill, for Yoga for Athletes
During class we did all sorts of poses and at the end we attempted hand stands. That was a sight to behold...a very humorous sight. All in all, it was a great experience and I will definitely be back.

If you live in the Portland area,
definitely check out Sellwood Yoga

5 Minute DIY: Flower Vase

This DIY is so easy and quick!

What You'll need:
1. Empty Starbucks Frappuccino bottle
Cricket just can't stay away from the camera :)
-The best part of this DIY is that you have a good excuse to buy a yummy drink :)

2. Ribbon

3. Accent Gems (You can find these at the dollar store for cheap)

4. A flower
And that's all you need!

Instructions:

1. After emptying the contents of your delicious Frappuccino bottle into your belly, rinse the bottle and peel off the Starbucks stickers stuck to the outside of the bottle.

-I use these bottles because the stickers peel off very easily and don't leave adhesive to scrub off.

2. Pour the desired amount of gems into the bottle.

3. Tie a bow with your ribbon around the rim of the bottle.

4. Place a flower in your new, adorable vase!

See, I told you. Easiest DIY ever.
My vase lives on the toilet tank in my bathroom :)
This vase is a great accent for an empty shelf or counter top. You can add multiple vases to make a cute and festive table centerpiece too! Enjoy!

Sexy Men from History

While surfing the Internet today I happened upon the most hilarious collection of old photographs. It was a collection of men in history blessed with good looks.  This site cracked me up so much I thought I would share it with you too!

Here are just a few lookers from mydaguerreotypeboyfriend!
I like his style and that pondering look on his face. I wonder what he is thinking about?
Almanzo Wilder, married at 28 to an 18-year-old
Just plain sexy.
Hermann Rorschach, c. 1910. This Swiss psychiatrist
Related to Brad Pitt???

"Stonewall" Jackson, Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Mexican War (1847)
Those eyes are so intense.
Is it weird that he reminds me of a vampire?...
Nathaniel Prentice Banks, Massachusetts governor, member of the House of Representatives,
Union General in the Civil War.
He's a bit small for my taste, but he has a very nice face.

This is just a little taste of the collection! If you want to see more visit

This Weekend: The Sisters Rodeo & Mt.Hood

This weekend Chris and I got to visit some wonderful friends in beautiful Bend, Oregon.
We had so much fun and made some wonderful memories.
Here are some snapshots from the weekend!
Mount Hood

The Sisters Rodeo!
You'll never guess what luck we had at the Rodeo! While in line to buy tickets for the Rodeo a family came up to us and offered us their tickets! And those tickets ended up being front row seats! Woohoo! Not bad for my first Rodeo.

The Queen and Princess of the Rodeo

In the stands
(as usual, I'm starving for attention while Chris is on the phone)

A bit hard to see, but if you look closely you can see the Three Sisters

This field was so beautiful. The colors were so vibrant and alive. There is nothing like the beauty of spring.<3

Next weekend should be another exciting one. My classmates, Chris and I are heading back to Bend for an official vacation full of adventure, relaxation, and lots of fun.

Mustache Mania

Can someone please explain to me how and why mustaches became "trendy"? What's the deal with everyone's fascination with these things?
It's so silly! Why the heck?
via

Ok, this one is actually pretty cool...

via
Very catchy and creative, but still,
must it be a mustache?
via

Ok, so actually this is really cute. The whole mustache thing might be growing on me...
via

A different kind of mustache...

And just as the whole "mustache thing" was starting to grow on me I find this:

OMG!!! This is so ridiculous! MUA HA HA HA
